To an outsider, its colorful culture, streets, and stories seem like a page out of an ancient folk tale. But color, in essence, has been a large part of the Indian consciousness.
Colors have a deep symbolic meaning in the Indian culture; there is a love for color. For the people of India, the colors have magical properties, and can be used to ensure good luck and health, for example:
- RED: It is the color of purity, love, beauty, fertility, power and wealth
- PURPLE: In india it's a symbol of creativity, vitality, exuberance, sorrow and comforting.
- BLACK: Symbol of anger, apathy, evil, negativity and darkness.
- BLUE: This color is related with comunication, expression, discipline, telling the truth and represents sports.
- GREEN: This color is related to forgiveness, hope, harvest, new beginnings, intimacy, devotion, depression, unconditional love and relationships.
- INDIGO: Color associated with intuition, imagination, the ability to see your own life clearly and use of mental intellect.
- ORANGE: It is related to sexuality, emotions, finances and creativity.
- YELLOW: It is associated with power, self-esteem, energy, desire, responsability and sacred.
- WHITE: It is a symbol of unhappiness, funerals, sorrow in death of a family member, peace and purity.
- BROWN: It is a color of mourning.
